Workshop “Sharing results of the speech and language therapy training needs assessment in Vietnam”

On 4/4/2018, MCNV and its project partners organized a workshop to share the results of the speech and language therapy training needs assessment in Vietnam which was done from November 2017 to February 2018 in eight provinces, including: Hanoi, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Hue, Dong Nai, Bin Phuoc and Hai Duong.

Participants were from different Ministries, Universities, provincial Department of Health, hospitals, Vietnamese and international organizations, and organizations of and for people with disabilities in Vietnam.

The objective of the Workshop was to share the results of the speech and language therapy training needs assessment done in eight provinces and cities in Vietnam and to introduce the Project of Speech and Language Therapy Education Development in Vietnam.

Key contents of the Workshop were:

• The results of the speech and language therapy training needs assessment;
• Experience in speech and language therapy training in Australia;
• Introduction of the Project of Speech and Language Therapy Education Development in Vietnam;
• MoU signing ceremony of the project implementing partners: MCNV and UMP in HCMC; MCNV and Da Nang UMTP; MCNV  and TFA;

The participants highly evaluated the support and contribution from MCNV and its implementing partners as well as the pioneer of the Project “Development of Speech and Language Therapy Education in Vietnam” by MCNV and VietHealth. The participants commented that they were impressed by the huge volume of work and the professionalism of the Assessment in such a short time. The results of the Assessment ans the experience from Australia and other countries shared at the Workshop were recognized.

After this Workshop, the final assessment report was finalized by MCNV. The report will be used for advocacy for evidence-based speech and language therapy training in Vietnam within MCNV’s Project. Other individuals and organizations may only use the information from the report after written approvals by MCNV.
